  • Our average league position

Looking at decades since 2000, I've done an average position of every team in the league from 1-92, so 12th in the Championship would be 32 adjusting for teams in the top flight and so on. This includes league tables as of today for this season.

Our average position since 2020 is 16th in the Championship (36). In the 2000s it was 18th in the Championship and in the 2010s it was 5th (25) in the Championship. Despite 3 divisions outside the top 2 in the 2000s, we're still close to being at a similar average to this decade.

If all the teams' positions was ranked, we were the 38th best club in the 2000s, 21st in the 2010s and 36th in the 2020s. Our drop in rank of 15 from 2010s to 2020s is the 15th biggest drop of any side in the league, on a par with Sunderland, Derby and Bolton. In the Championship, only Stoke and Swansea have seen bigger drops from last decade to this.
