  • FA Cup Semis attendances

    82k for Palace v Villa
73k for Forest v Man City

Surprised Palace and Villa couldn’t manage to sell out. Man City I’m less surprised, winning Wembley trips are little more than a formality for them at this point.

It said in the Commentary that Man City had played 30 times at the new Wembley.

So we still hold the attendance record with Portsmouth.

I never understand these stats as surely every cup final sells out? So why is ours a higher attendance?

Was it one of the first at the new Wembley and segregation issues were being worked out. The segregation for our final was minimal compared to later games perhaps.

Yes I believe there was a lot less segregation for our final and also far more tickets for both sets of fans rather than corporate / FA

You can see as a Man City fan why the novelty of a Wembley trip has long gone, the Forest end looked packed though

                  Re: FA Cup Semis attendances

I’m old school and think both FA cup semi finals should be played on neutral club grounds as they did yrs ago.
Playing at Wembley in those days was the cherry on the cake for reaching the final.
Also never agreed with the play off finals being played there either.
You could have a player playing for Leeds or Burnley, who may never get to play there in his career, yet some guy playing for a club that finishes 6th in their division could end up telling his grand children that he played there.
My idea for the play offs in all divisions should be a one off game between 3rd and 6th at 3rds ground, and 4th and 5th at 4ths ground. The final is a one off home game for the team who originally finished higher.
                  Rant over 😁

You'd end up with about 3-4k away fans, or maybe fewer, at the final. No thanks

Agree with the cup semi finals, the rest absolutely not.

Will be interesting to see what the FA do when Wembley is usurped by the new Man Utd stadium as the biggest in the country.

And you'd have countless fans who would never see their team at Wembley if the playoff finals weren't there.

Agree on fa cup semis, but not playoff finals. Who cares if a League 2 player tells his grand children he played there? Thats a good thing!

You can basically have a day out at Wembley for failure then.

Like everyone else I agree about the FA Cup semis but totally disagree with the playoff final. Being in the top 6 at the end of a 46 game season and winning a two legged high pressure tie is a harsh definition of failure

You can have 3 if you’re a Cardiff City fan. (4 if we count that Spurs away game)
