  • Sio Stat

I always though that Sio was given a bit of a hard time by some fans whilst was he was here but the unfunny blokes on View From The Ninian said that we only picked up 13 points (it is actually 10 as I checked) after he left on Jan 31st.

I’m not for one moment suggesting that he would have kept us up, but unlike players mentioned in the ‘Make zero impression’ thread elsewhere, at least he contributed and often quite well, so I thought, unlike so many other players (e.g. Turnbull etc)

Siopis started 16 league games this season. City won 2 of the 16.

      Re: Sio Stat

We went down because we couldn't defend, were painfully slow and couldn't create chances for our strikers. Sio didn't address any of those concerns.

It’s ironic you suggest he was under-rated by some of our fans. I thought he was hugely over-rated. Genuinely could not see what he positively added to the team.

He’ll be playing Champions League football next season. Let’s see how he gets on there.

I think he would have come in useful as an option, but save us, nah not with Eric's mate.

I certainly can't compete with your suggestion that Siopis leaving had a negative impact on the season. That really is funny.

If we’re going to have a discussion about a ball winning midfielder we shouldn’t have let go, there’s a thread about Ebou Adams already - his stats for last season were far better than Siopis’.

One is a well-thought-of (in Greece) International who recently beat England, and one had his best ever season in the Championship, which most on here describe as the weakest in years.

Yeah, but you're the guy who thought it was a huge joke to accuse Adams of swinging the lead for a season while he was with us aren't you, so we all know where you're coming from.

No, you've compared a Greek International at Panathinaikos with a Derby almost-relegated run-of-the-mill midfielder. Siopis did ten times more for us than Adams did, apart from time on the physio table.

Yes, I said he had an easy life here, just training and getting himself fit. Rambo has had a similar year, but with more games, and he managed us for a bit.

I didn't say he was enjoying it, or that it's better than playing, I merely said it's nice work if you can get it.

in the Championship games he actually played for us, Adams made an average of 4.71 tackles per game and won 3.53 per game
For us Siopis attempted 2.96 tackles per game and won 1.48 tackles per game.

Siopis is probably better at passing, but at the thing that they're both in the side to do, Adams is consistently more prolific and effective than Siopis, over many seasons actually.

Adams was rubbish for us, and Siopis was a bit better. Outside of that, one is a Greek International at Partithinitos and the other is a Derby clogger.

People judge Adams for us on a handful of games he played after being out injured for a year and at a higher level than he had ever played previously, and even in that time he did more than Siopis.

Sio seems like a great character, and clearly does well in Greece, but didn't have the physicality for the championship in my opinion
