How many non Footballing events have taken place at either Ninian Park or Ccs? There's probably quite a few, well loads actually if you consider some of the dross we have witnessed over the years. So I'll start, Jehovah's Witnesses convention....

Re: Following on from Bob's post ..
Pretty sure they were an end of season event - they were supposed to be football’s equivalent of the Snelling Sevens. Think it was only held twice wasn’t it?Originally posted by splott parker View PostFootball I know but does anyone remember the ‘Soccer Sixes’ tournament in the 60s that was held a few times pre season?

There was also the game played for the survivors of the Aberfan disaster around the time when the Soccer Sixes were taking place. I have three memories of that match, first, there was a really good crowd, second, Tommy Steele was, by some distance, the best player out of the celebrities involved and the third one, I may be wrong about, but I think it was played on a Sunday during a time when there was barely any live sport played on that day.

I played in that for Cardiff and District League against a Cardiff City team that included a young Toshack. I think we lost 4-2 but gave them a game.Originally posted by splott parker View PostFootball I know but does anyone remember the ‘Soccer Sixes’ tournament in the 60s that was held a few times pre season?

 You’re correct Paul, it was an end of season event, played across the pitch, not lengthways. Taff’s Well FC held a similar event well into the 80s, which I played in a few times.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostPretty sure they were an end of season event - they were supposed to be football’s equivalent of the Snelling Sevens. Yes, I was there for that, many household names took part. Big crowd and a good day out for a good cause.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostThere was also the game played for the survivors of the Aberfan disaster around the time when the Soccer Sixes were taking place.
