Don't hide behind "it was a joke" when you're called out, stick to your guns.

They're right as well, Marx wrote economic and philosophical papers, attributing any horrors to him is nonsense. By that logic we should blame Adam Smith for everything bad a capitalist state has ever done

Course I will stick to my guns. Some of the most brutal regimes in history have interpreted his philosophies as the basis for their totalitarianism.

But either way, it was a joke. On a message board. You don't have to take it literally. I thought it was quite a good way of saying what a bad dad joke it was. I'm sure there's an important philosophical debate here that many of us have had in our twenties after a few spliffs, but this isn't it.

Imagine being a grown man and being triggered by a joke about Karl Marx on a football message board. 🤷
