    Re: Ollie Tanner

He works hard and does have ability.
I think he will perform well for us this season.

      Apparently, he's a bit of a prick.

As a player, I think this will be the last season he can realistically have to prove himself.

Will he 'Smash it' in some games, for a portion of time, yes, but for the best part, no in my opinion. He's not the brightest in possession.
but them few times it works and he makes the right pass / cross / cuts inside and gets fouled for a pen could be the difference in games and earn us a decent return of points, I think a fit Ollie at the end of last season would have meant we would have stood a much better chance of staying up, in a team devoid of creativity, he might have made the difference

from a personal point of view, I love it when a player takes another player on and beats his man, its exciting and get you stood up and cheering

I also like Ollie as he is everything thats right with the game, a young man living his best life doing something he loves , didnt work out at Arsenal academy, didnt really work out in the Nat League, joined Lewes in step 3, then signed for us, loaned out to NL side York, didnt really work out, but stuck at it, came back and got his head down and played a fair few times for us, that can only be character building

The Tanner of the closing weeks of last season was not even a good League One player - he contributed next to nothing after getting injured against the jacks. If BBM is really able to improve players already at the club, then Tanner would become an influential player at this level provided a full pre season gets him fully fit.

If this is what BBM is really about, getting the best out of players then Tanner could be a real asset, whether Tanner has the mentality to take on board the coaches vision is the big question?
Based on last season Tanner would probably have a career in league 2 or the conference or whatever it’s called now.

This season could define his career, has he got what it takes and can BBM get that out of him? or will he just slip away settle for earning a living in non league football and wonder what happened when he turns 30?

Some players respond better to an arm around the shoulder and encouragement, others just need to be able to follow instructions, Tanner strikes me as being in that camp?

I hope BBM, doesn’t waste too much time on him, he needs to knuckle down and concentrate on his career here or move on

Hopefully he can get him going, Tanner and Colwill had a good spell when Riza started but they both faded quickly when teams doubled up on them.

                Re: Ollie Tanner

Tanner struggles with basic decision making when on the ball and when out of possession with basic positional play.

His get out on here is Bulut and Riza were hopeless fuuckers who too struggled with basic structures so perhaps Tanner was as confused as everyone else in the stadium.

If Tanner can sort out when to use the space in front of him and when to pass he'll have a better season due yo the drop in opposition quality. I think he'll do OK but is he a definite first pick / starter player under this new coach?

He is a one-trick pony. If he can't beat his man he becomes unproductive and inert.

I don't disagree but the "unproductive and inert" could be levelled at most of them last season with one or two exceptions.

Indeed it could. Creativity and commitment have been sadly lacking among what seems to be predominantly a team of journeymen.

I think he could be very effective in League One. I do agree with the “throwing his hands in the air” rubbish. It works once in a while but in a relegation battle where the players completely bottled it, it loses its impact.

Great on his day. Which is about twice a year. Looks like he can’t be arsed rest of the days.

Think he may end up being an impact sub.
