Bagan’s on three bookings in three league games isn’t he and one of those arguably should have been a red card- he could be serving a suspension with the transfer window still open.

      Is Luey Giles injured?

He didn't feature in the u21 match v Crewe.

Not heard anything to that effect, I’ve been expecting an announcement that he’s gone out on loan somewhere. The appointment of BBM has been great news for so many of our younger players, not sure it has been for Giles though.

Regardless of how well we played on Saturday, Centre-Back is still our weakest position IMO

              I'd agree

Lack of cover for injuries, and I'd still like to see all three coming in as starters.

We have Lawlor, Fish, Chambers and Daland still at the club - Ng and Bagan have both played there also, and I think even Eli King has in a friendly hasn't he? that's before we have to dip into the academy players.

At left back if Bagan gets injured we don't have anyone

We've seen Chambers this season and Daland is on the way out, and 4th choice. We need a centre back.

I don't disagree, but not as much as we need a left back

We need them equally. We are an injury away from an issue at CB or LB

I don't know about equally. An injury to one of our current CBs means chambers comes in. Which although a downgrade isn't the end of the world. An injury to Bagen and we went with a 18 year old defensive midfielder and hoped for the best.

I'd agree with this. 7 defenders in a squad are enough, they are not high attrition positions. The problem we have is that none of the 6 ( if you exclude Bagan) have any proven history or covering or playing at left back. We could do with a bit of versatility, a Joe Gomez type defender. If Daland's replacement was to be say Callum Doyle (we wish) who can play more than adequately at left back, we would not need to sign a further left back who will probably just sit on the bench all season. Having players like Dale Burn or Gvardiol have great value for a squad as do right footed full backs who are adept either side - Denis Irwin, Frank Lampard snr or Freddie Pethard (equally inept either side)!

That is, unless the management have concluded that Bagan is not good enough (which I doubt).

Luey Giles must be injured otherwise he would be playing for the U21's. The club have not been slow to announce any loan moves.

Interesting to see that Kpakio was moved to left back rather than Chambers. His top class mobility and dexterity means he should be pretty accomplished in that role. He really is an outstanding prospect.

Dan Potts is on trial with us. If the management do believe that Bagan is good enough (he certainly appears to be at this level) they may give Potts a 6 month contract to act as cover if Luey Giles's injury is serious or they fail to sign a left footed centre back.

Whichever option, I wouldn't be unhappy if we go into the autumn/December half of the season with the three left backs and Giles/Centre backs covering in a case of an emergency. Ng will be wanting, and his previous performances justify, regular game time.

But Callum Doyle would be the perfect answer to both the centre back and left back cover questions. An ex BBM graduate as well. We can but dream

I've just read that Callum Doyle is on his way to Wrexham for £8m!

Manchester City have sold academy graduate Callum Doyle to Wrexham and included two sell-on clauses in the deal.

Ng is fit soon, so it's him. Chambers and Daland have been dreadful for us at CB, we need another centre back as well.
