Re: Biggest net spend in the Championship.
Wrexham: Spent £30m, recouped minimal sales, resulting in a net spend of approximately -£23.7m. Notable signings include Callum Doyle from Manchester City for £8m. Their significant outlay without substantial player sales placed them at the top of the net spend list.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostNo.
Swansea City: Spent around £12.7m, including £5.18m on Zeidane Inoussa, £6m on Adam Idah, and £1.5m on Ethan Galbraith, with roughly £0.7m recouped from sales like Mykola Kukharevych. Their net spend is estimated at -£12m.
Charlton Athletic: Invested heavily, with an estimated net spend of -£10m, primarily due to the signing of Charlie Kelman from QPR and minimal income from free transfers and loans.
Derby County: Spent on 16 signings, including Patrick Agyemang and Max Johnston, with a net spend of around -£8.1m after limited sales, mostly free transfers.
Birmingham City: Spent approximately £8m, with sales of £10.2m, resulting in a net spend of around -£2.2m.
Other notable points:Southampton led in net profit with a £62m surplus, driven by £110m in sales (e.g., Mateus Fernandes to West Ham, Tyler Dibling to Everton) against £48.6m spent.
Leicester City recorded a net profit of £52m, with no significant transfer fees spent due to financial constraints, focusing instead on loans like Aaron Ramsey.
Ipswich Town had a net profit after spending £22m (e.g., £12m on Kasey McAteer, £10m on Azor Matusiwa) but recouping £41.5m, primarily from Omari Hutchinson’s £37.5m move to Nottingham Forest.
The Championship as a whole spent £201.2m and recouped £411.3m, resulting in a collective net profit of £210.1m, largely due to significant sales by relegated clubs like Southampton, Leicester, and Ipswich.
Figures are sourced from Transfermarkt and EFL Analysis, accurate as of September 2, 2025. Note that some transfer fees are estimates, as undisclosed fees and add-ons may affect exact values. For the most precise and up-to-date figures, checking official club statements or Transfermarkt’s detailed breakdowns is recommended.

Re: Biggest net spend in the Championship.
I have a lot of friends who are swans fans and they are all pretty confident of at least the playoffs based on their early games so if right that investment might be small if they get promotedOriginally posted by the other bob wilson View PostCorrect.

Re: Biggest net spend in the Championship.
Yes, I don’t think he’s good value, on the other hand, whatever it took them to get Benson from Burnley on loan could be money very well spent. Surprised they were able to get Galbraith so cheap as well.Originally posted by PontBlue View PostCeltic saw them coming. £6m for Idah is laughable even in today's overinflated world
