The camera angle in the second one shows that the woeful referee probably got the penalty decision right - still not sure if Chambers was fouled beforehand though.

Bob, I was near the Stockport corner flag and from where I was sitting I thought that it was a penalty. When I realised that it was NG, I couldn't bring myself to dispute it.

However, I also thought that CC was fouled beforehand. But, given the way that the 'homer' ref performed, it was never going to be given.

That's never a penalty when compared to the tussling that was allowed throughout the match all over the pitch

This is where the inconsistency is frustrating. Above all else, you need to know where you stand with the ref.
