He signed 17 players in that window and spent £3m on transfer fees alone, nevermind whatever we coughed up in signing on fees for the free transfers. He was most certainly backed

Imagine if we signed Kipre on a permanent deal, and didn't fill the squad with dross like Romeo, Daley Campbell, Ojo, Sawyers, Simpson, Adams, Rino, Allsop, Alnwick, Etete etc. They had this crazy idea we had to have 25-30 senior pros to have a chance, so the budget was spread so thin we couldn't bring in enough quality.
