  • Mix Tape

Anyone else watched this on BBC iPlayer ?
A four parter starts off in Sheffield in the 80’s where 2 school kids get together, through their love of music, split up, then meet each other again later in life.
Really good story and a brilliant 80’s sound track. Well worth a watch imo. 👍

We watched it a few weeks ago and loved it. Nice bit of nostalgia.

We also watched it a few weeks back - partly for the Sheffield setting and partly for the music. It was very good - much better than I expected.

I enjoyed it, and the music was brilliant - but I couldn't quite get over how unrealistic the scene at the Bramall Lane away end was.

Also, they totally messed up the age of the charachters; given they met as teenagers in the 80s.

Perhaps I should have let these things go.

I'm sure you have suspended your belief in reality quite a few times if you're a City fan.

We thought the same about the adult characters’ age - but I think (after checking) the ‘now’ is supposed to be set just over 10 years ago which makes it more believable but still a stretch.

Some of the Sheffield scenes were clearly not filmed in Sheffield…. although enough were.

Out of interest where were they filmed?

Can’t remember - but I think some scenes were done in somewhere like Wigan. May even have been Wigan.

The pigeon shed was too basic for Sheffield. Around here they are feathery palaces!

watched first 2 series and conjurs up what life was really like back in the 80's

the alternative music scene features heavy too which is always a plus for me

Labour are taking us back to the 80's but a bit poorer.
