No they were knocked out by Hampton and Richmond. There is one 9th tier team (Whitstable) and three 8th tier teams (Runcorn Linnets, Maldon & Tiptree and Flackwell Heath) who are still in the competition. The latter two of the 8th teir teams play each other so that would be a fun away day for the 55 people who would qualify for a ticket :hehe:

I think that the 1st round is regionalised (TLG?) 3 of those 4 are possible. Who will be our new Chasetown?

I don’t think the first round is regionalised. Last year Worthing played Morecambe in the first round. I wouldn’t like to understand the logic if they were considered to be in the same region.

It must be odd for Merthyr this year. Until they were knocked out they were in the southern draw. I saw them play Torpoint from Cornwall. In the northern League they have to travel to South Shields. For a non league side this season that covers just about the whole of England.

Not been in the second round for 23 years, I really hope the club start to take it seriously.

Being in the first round of the FA Cup is the ultimate indignity.

Playing under-21 sides in the Vertu Trophy tops it I reckon.

                  Nah. It's Newport.

Our current attendance ranking mirrors our position in the table - third in League One. The giants are Bolton, who are marginally more gigantic than Bradford.

There’s not much between it but Round 1 of the FA Cup just pips it for me.

Yep, there was a lengthy period of time when I dreamed we could, once again, become a ‘top team’, and skip the early rounds of the FA cup.

Now we are, once again, a ‘lower league team’ that will be hoping for a plum draw in the 3rd round - if we can scrape past a few ‘minnows’ along the way.

One benefit of the early rounds is the chance to play some obscure club a few levels down. We will probably get Reading though.

One disadvantage of the early rounds is the chance to play some obscure club a few levels down - and get beaten!

That's the danger :hehe: but feels a bit like a throwback to what the FA Cup used to be.
