An extra body in the buildup doesn't necessarily take away attacking threat if ew can do it properly

Robinson, Willock and Salach had at least one each as well.

The real strange decision for me was to bring on Ng, we obviously needed a midfielder more than another defender as we were being totally overrun there. Seemed obvious that it was crying out for Wintle instead.
Perhaps Wintle may have been a better option but I can see why he went for Ng dealing with crosses in the box of which there were many, especially when they were chasing the game.

So all bullshit aside, we need a footballer

Very frustrating because there is a half decent team there.
I think you did well and were unlucky to lose. As has been pointed out, I think we just have more quality where it counts. Including at goalkeeper. On today's showing, I don't think you need to worry about your league position.

Except the one time Ng had to deal with a high cross into the box he totally missed the header and it created a scramble from which Reading easily could have scored. We didn't need more bodies in the box, we needed to stop Reading walking through our midfield like there was nobody there.

We aren't exactly blessed with this kind of player, this has been obvious for a number of weeks now.
The defending was keystone cops stuff all game but even if we'd have performed well defensively, there would still have been scrambles in the box as the opposition chases the game.

yeah a midfield duo to end the game of Turnbull and Rubin Colwill is dubious at the best of times, but to make matters worse Rubin was clearly out on his feet for the final 10 minutes, he had put in a huge amount of effort earlier in the game and I think he was done, probably fell asleep in the changing room

That was terrible play from him tbh. We had the chance to put the game to bed had he done the right thing but instead he done his usual holding onto the ball too long and turning back on himself when every ****er had run past him for the counter. It was unbelievably naive.

Playing us forward he was excellent when he dropped back one position for his brother but, like you say, after we got the lead and were clinging on by our fingernails, having him and Turnbull in midfield when Reading starting throw more men forward was inevitably going to lead to us losing the lead and would have but for Trott, Fish was also excellent and Chambers was decent too given no real protection from midfield.

There were a few minutes left, just tell Ashford to sit in and work, carry the ball when it's heavily in our favour, but he hooked him. I may be wrong, but that doesn't sit right with me, He'd only been on for 10 minutes or so? Did anyone see anything that stood out in Ashfords game that merited him getting pulled?
Mate, I think what he says is correct. It was chaotic and he did apologise to Ashford as he come off.

I think it was more of an admission that he (BBM) had ****ed up and(I’d rather he said that too, but I dont think Ashford pissed him off.

Hopefully BBM will learn from it because it was a daft substation to put him on in the 79th minute when they were pushing for an equaliser.
The 10 minutes that folllowed was just like a basketball match. It was crazy. Save after save from Trott. Wed get so far up the pitch and then it would breakdown and we had committed too many men forward.

As I said in another thread yesterday it makes for an enjoyable match, end to end, but our game management yesterday, or lack of it, was a bit worrying. I think some of the young lads had the adrenaline going from the crowd. Even in injury time Isaak crossed a ball into the box instead of taking it into the corner and they countered off it.

R Colwill improved a lot once he dropped from the 10 to the 8 role. When he is stood near Salech with his back to goal, often marked and not moving, he doesn't look that great. In the 8 role more of the game is in front of him and he can have a greater influence

Is it me or are we pretty shit with making the opposition keeper work when we shoot from outside of the box?
                          It is not just you.
Around us people (and me ) were saying we try to walk the ball into the net sometimes, rather than take a shot. And then we lose possession.

That sounds like a fair assessment of the situation. I will take yours and Macadder's word on it.
