  • Teams we have played at home this season

    Current position

    23rd
    16th
    20th
    3rd
    21st
    15th
    22nd

Feels like we have been very lucky with the fixture list so far in terms of home games. Need to sort it out ahead of the better sides coming here.

Away opposition looks much better and our results more impressive

Reading looked far better than their league position. Hard to understand how they are so low in the table

Another way of looking at it is that some of those teams are in that position because we took the 3 points against them. It is a bit tight and had they took the 3 points against us, they'd climb the table a bit. So I’m going with the fact that we put them there (I know they’ve lost to others but only care about us:hehe:)

Reading didn't finish far off the play offs last season. I don't expect them to finish as low as they are now.

Orient I'd still expect to be around the top 6 despite their poor result yesterday.

And if we keep giving up as many chances then I'd expect us to gravitate down to play off contenders.

Sloppy defending and lacking creativity. Playing Lewis Wing further forward made a lot of difference yesterday. He is outstanding at this level and has been wasted being played so deep. Yesterday was better but we still lost.

Unfortunately or fortunately whichever side of the fence you’re on, the ball in the back of the net is the name of the game. Regardless of all the coaching fads over the years t’was ever thus. I’m sure you’ll be ok this season, as will we, the mark of a promotion side is not playing all that well yet still coming away with the points, as your last sentence alluded to, good luck from now on:thumbup:

Yes, there was some terrible sloppy passing Osho would have had an assist if the Reading player had buried that guilt edged chance.

That said they scored an incredibly good goal and played the counterattack very well. Still think they are a good team

Totally correct, but some don't like it when you correctly point out lucky or unlucky spells with fixtures.

We need to improve, we will have to play more of the good teams eventually, although maybe they will suit our style better we struggle against low block and break teams.

I don't think it's a low block we've struggled against, it's a high line that teams have started to play against us, forcing us to play games with 21 plays in our half, making the passing game that much more difficult. and there are enough weak links in the team that it inevitably breaks down when we try to play all the way through them.

we are too predictable and need to mix it up by going long earlier and get runners in behind.

It's a mixture, some teams are pressing higher and trying to stop us playing it out, the harder working better ones sometimes can at first, but we are stronger in the second halves. Agree with the last bit, play faster and more direct for a bit to make them change, then revert. We need to keep teams on their toes and be harder to play against. We could do with a bit of bite and edge too, we are far too nice most of the time, and getting bullied a bit.

It's not meant to be negative, I'm delighted how well it's gone most of the time, it's just we need to keep adapting and working hard. The Manager is doing a great job and the young players are learning and will get better as the season goes on.

I think it went down to the last day, they have strengthened a little aswell

It did go to the final game. However we are weaker imo. We lost our two talented centre backs Tyler Bindon and Amadou Mbengue in the summer. We also lost Harvey Knibbs whose goals and assists have not been replaced.
We do have more depth now but our best 11 is weaker.

More of the good teams.? We've played the sides in 3rd , 4th and 5th plus the 2 sides who came down with us.
