I thought he was safe for some time yet, but they did spend an awful lot of money by their standards in the summer.

they must have pushed the boat out a bit as far as their budget goes, so they should have expected some improvement, but in quite a few metrics I've seen of championship sides they were one of the worst, and could easily have been dragged into the relegation battle, so probably a sensible move to make the change now.

Yes a real pity they sacked him so soon!
