  • Newport sack manager

Ah well, that’s what happens when you only win three out of sixteen games, I guess. Wasn’t Hughes menti9ned as a possible City manager, at one point? Looks like we dodged a bullet there.

In fairness, there are few coaches below the top levels who haven't been mentioned as a possible City manager at some point in recent years.

He was head of our academy 4-5 years ago, but I've never seen him mentioned as a possible manager (unless it was in an interim capacity).

On the few occasions I've seen Newport this year, he seemed the archetypal modern coach - obsessed with "playing the right way" but being frequently undone by the basics.

That said, my County-supporting mate reckons Huw is the main problem, interfering with recruitment and team selections. Not a popular man with the fans at all.

But unfair to write him off to be fair, looks like a lot more going on there than the manager.

But had to go as it's looking a very tough job to turn that around when you're so inexperienced at being first team manager.

They've recently lost to 2 of their closest rivals, so needed to if if their fortunes are going to turn around.
He might have gone sooner if they hadn't beaten us in the Vertu game.
