Rod was a Rolls Royce of a player seemed to have so much time on the ball. Rest in peace another city player from my childhood gone 😢

RIP, past his best when he came to us, but he was still a calming and composed presence in defence - a class performer at his peak at Swindon and Derby.

Yes, I was living in Derby whilst he was there and he was superb. So cultured. RIP Rod.

My mate and I used to call him, "Niven," after the smooth actor David Niven. Like the actor, the footballer was polished in all he did. Never hurried and was still a cut above the division we were in.

Remember him well as a City player. Might have been at end of his career but he was still a class act.
