  • Ronaldo. Very predictable

Cristiano Ronaldo: Portugal captain avoids ban for start of nation's 2026 World Cup campaign
Who would have guessed? A 3 game ban for his red card against The ROI meant he’d have missed Portugals opening 2 games in next yrs WC finals.
As if by magic, 2 of the 3 game ban have been suspended, allowing him to play. Wonder if they’d have done that for a lesser player of a lesser team?

Of course not, this is straight up favouritism and further corruption of football by Fifa. Just look at how rigged the world cup draw is going to be.

Under Infantino they are not even trying to hide it anymore. No sooner does Ronaldo rack up with Infantino for Trump's White House dinner with the Saudi Leader than this special treatment kicks in. It might be a beautiful game but it is more and more in the hands of some ugly people.

He’s the biggest superstar in world football, it’s not difficult to understand.

Stupid rule anyway, carrying bans from qualifiers into finals 8 months later.

Messy could commit a murder and he'll still be playing at the World Cup as well.

Stupid rules I agree. Plenty of stupid rules in all walks of life. But they are there in black and white. So back to my opening question fisherman. Would they have waived them for a lesser player of a lesser team ?

Probably not but from a commercial point of view FIFA can’t have its golden goose missing 2 games.

It’s not like he’s been caught doling and they’ve been the rules.

I'm not sure how much this helps Portugal these days - they seem a better team without him.
