RIP Mr Reiner, he made some great movies.
As far as I know Reiner consistently called out Trump as an incapable fascist moron ('saying it how it is', I think you said) but had the basic human decency to condemn violence , political or otherwise. Not saying he was a saint but we don't seem to be playing Olympic level limbo here.
Any other 'what about' events you can think of ? Ideally ones that put more made-up words in dead people's mouths please.

And, of course, if this murder would have happened in, say, 2014 and President Obama would have said something similar to what Trump has, you would have been on here defending him. I wouldn’t be because it’s a disgraceful thing to say about someone who put political differences aside when Charlie Kirk was killed.

Rob Reiner was an actor and a director. His only power was that what he said would get press coverage. He never made policy to hurt people, make them poorer, break relationships with allies, vociferously support and court killers and dictators, he didn't publicly humiliate women, or other celebrities, murder people indiscriminately, he wasn't a racist, he didn't foment hatred, he wasn't a xenophobe, he didn't take people's healthcare away out of spite. In short, no one is dead because of Rob Reiner.

          Your bloke though?

You don't get it, do you?

This maggot is the President of the United States of America, for God's sake. He's not some low-grade celebrity or random social media contributor. No other president or world leader in our lifetime would have spewed forth such rubbish publicly upon somebody's death, regardless of who that person was or what political views they held. But this is so typical of Donald Trump. He's a disgusting human being and he's deranged, delusional and dangerous.

Agree, I don’t know how he’s getting away with spewing bile and hatred yet suing and trying to bring charges against anyone who criticises him. He’s meant to be the leader of “The Land of the Free”

Men of principle fight their corner, you hint cryptically at vague things and when pushed you say that you're waiting to see how things play out. Sadly I think your dream of a dancy grave is destined to be unfulfilled

And the people who defend him, support him etc are full of spite and frustration. I never really thought that before, I saw his popularity in some some sections of society as a protest vote towards the people and political classes who had failed them. There may well be some truth in that, but those who I know personally who are advocates of Trump and his behaviour are spiteful human beings.

                      Terrible situation.

Rob Reiner's son Nick was arrested on suspicion of murder after the director and his wife were found dead.

The couple's son is in custody after the couple was found dead in their home on Sunday.

Divide and conquer, it's a rigged game and always has been. Here's the logic from your viewpoint - every person who hates Trump is good and every person who likes Trump is bad. But it get's better, people who don't play the like/hate game are also bad! This is how cults operate ...

this sentiment might have landed better if your first reaction to this thread was to immediately leap to the defence of Donald Trump saying something unbelievably crass, self centred and misjudged.

You might see it that way, but I wasn't leaping to the defence of anybody. Like I said above, anybody outside of the cult is against you, even if they are ambivalent.

Rigged game? What a load of gibberish.

I don’t believe every person who hates Trump is good. But I do believe anyone who likes him is a ****ing idiot. And there are many millions of them.

Name one person from either side who has been held to account for their actions. It's all for show.
