  • Queens speech, now the Kings speech

Does anyone else on here watch or listen to it?
I do my best every yr to catch it. I’m not a royalist, neither am I anti royal. I just feel it’s a festive tradition.

Maybe I watched it as a young kid because my parents had it on, but that would have been strange as they never did after I reached an age where I was aware of what was on the telly and I’ve never watched a second of it as an adult.

Don’t think I’ll be watching terrestrial television at all today which I believe will be a first for me on Christmas Day.

Yuk! I'm watching paint dry! It's far more captivating

I don't remember seeing it much past the late '70s.

The concept of a royal family is ludicrous to me. Historically wealthy landowners treated as demi-gods. Having to address them as if they were superior beings and affording them gravitas regarding their mutterings purely due to the bed they were born in.
The honours system based on their predilections and a national anthem that weaves them together with the other infantilisng concept of a god.
          It's complete tosh.

I normally watch it, but I didn't this year as dinner was slightly delayed and also I am a big fat pig on Christmas day and had second helpings.

Seemed like a reasonable message from Charlie though.

They should exist in Madame Tussauds only. Buck Pal should be a theme park.

It amazes me that in the 21st century many people fawn over them and consider them special.
Perhaps Madamoiselle Guillotine should have paid the UK a visit after finishing off the French aristocracy in 1789. Country may be a far better, less subservient place.

Agree. The idea that people have a better pedigree than others due to their ancestors being brutal murderers is bonkers
