Unbeatable Christmas Day shows, many of you won’t remember them but they were the staple diet. Nowadays it’s all about Eastenders, Emmerdsle and Coronation Street garbage. Oh for the 70’s.

Re: Morcambe & Wise
Mrs Browns boys is absolute gobshite. The thought of license fee money paying for that is yet another reason for the license fee to be scrapped. More like the broken biscuit company, should be a subscription channel.Originally posted by Cleve van Leef View PostUnbeatable Christmas Day shows, many of you won’t remember them but they were the staple diet. The bed scenes, with both of them lying in the same bed wearing their pyjamas :hehe: It simply wouldn't work in this day and age, but it was entirely innocent back then.

Re: Morcambe & Wise
Keep meaning to give them a go, where can I watch them? Was watching some of the only fools Christmas specials recently too, absolutely love it.
Even if some of the older classics aren't for you, they are light years ahead of anything they try these days. It though feels like with streaming they just don't bother.
Even Christmas movies, I just don't see any of the ones created in recent years being much loved in 20 years.

They were brilliant and I think the Xmas specials used to get 27/28 million watching. They used to have a lot of the big stars on and just take the mick out of them. The one with Andre Previn is still funny to this day. They’re on BBC 2 and BBC 4 quite a lot.

Not Christmassy , but if you want comedy at its best, watch Tony Hancock in The Blood Doner

Re: Morcambe & Wise
Watch the orchestra's reaction in the background when Mr Preview is trying to do his bit. Some of them looked like they were going to die, laughing so much. Eric Morcambe was an accomplished pianist and had to be to really xxxx up Grieg's piano concerto like that. Brilliant. One of the best sketches ever.Originally posted by SOXY BOY View PostThey were brilliant and I think the Xmas specials used to get 27/28 million watching.
