  • Merthyr v Hereford tonight

    2-2

Attendance 3,997 which is currently a sell out at Penydarren Park. 700 Hereford fans travelled.

More there than at a few League 2 matches last night, including Cewnty.

And even a game in our league had a lower attendance (Burton v Wigan)

It’s a great time to be a Merthyr fan.

94th minute equaliser for Hereford. Ouch.

I thought we deserved our late equaliser, though who knows what the Merthyr keeper was doing.

Can see why Merthyr doing well, look like a fluent football side, unlike us.

More City fans and cops there than actual Merthyr fans?

Froze in front of a big crowd by the looks of it. Hereford last but one taking a point

Anyone else immediately thinking of that special night when City played Hereford in front of 35,549 at Ninian Park in Div 3 in 1976?!

Biggest home crowd for 15 years.

On the preceding Saturday, City had beaten Palace at Selhurst Park and gobby Malcolm Allison had dissed our support.

After the Hereford game, which City won, club sent 6 bottles of champers to Allison. 😂

Sweet postscript - City and Hereford won promotion - Palace missed out. 😜

MALCOLM Allison was left speechless when more than 35,000 spectators turned up for a midweek Third Division clash between Cardiff City and Hereford United at Ninian Park.

“Forest Green Rovers have signed Merthyr Town striker Ricardo Rees in a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee“

                Wasn’t he their main man?

Yes. Great move for Ricci but big shame for Merthyr.

I know of 2 EFL clubs who were in for him, not sure going to FGR is the right move for the lad

Guess it secures Merthyrs future for a couple of seasons.

They made more money from the game against Hereford a couple of days ago.

It’s a tier 6 club selling to a tier 5 club. He had 6 months left on his contract then he could walk away. I understand the benefits are a much improved salary, benefits and closer to home for him, whilst allowing him to turn professional. I don’t know the numbers but it’s “tens of thousands”, so not next to nothing for a semi professional.

The club were never going to stand in the way of the lad turning professional, but they should have negotiated more than 20 grand given the interest from several clubs, League 2 clubs included.

Just a bit disappointing he’s only gone up 1 level rather than move to the football league.

I notice Savage has already stated throwing players under the bus as results have started to turn so it will certainly going to be a very different dynamic to the one he enjoyed at Merthyr.
