That was just ridiculous wasn’t it - there was no way they could tell if the very edge of his elbow was offside or not

It was a palaver, took far too long to come to the decision. I thought he got it right in the end though as if Haaland hadn't been where he was (in an offside position) then the defender could have had a chance of stopping Semenyo's flick.
If there was no VAR I doubt the referee would have taken any flak.
