Very limited experience clearly showed today. Only has afforded a single red card since 2024, I assume Cambridge United must have killed a Bolton player last season for that to happen.

He was an absolute disgrace. I thought I’ve seen some very poor refs this season and they couldn’t get any worse, but Howard took it to another level

The L1 games that I have watched us play this season have nearly all had very patchy officiating, so much so that I almost always end up noticing it.

The standard of football isn’t great (apart from when we knock it about of course!) but so many games have been made even worse by poor refereeing e.g. today, away at Orient etc.

The linesman, sorry "assistant referee", on the ninian side might as well have not been there today as he was inept.

Was he the winner of a " be a ref for a day" competition ? Absolute clown ! I can go back to the early 70s and am struggling to remember a more totally inept official

He wasn't that bad, got back into position well at one point to stop a dangerous counter.

Took a mate of mine today who is a wolves fan and he was gobsmacked not just by the Salech incident but a whole range of others that went unpunished and couldn't understand how we got punished for identical offences

What really pi…some off with referees particularly at this level is the inconsistency in their decision making. I don’t like fussy referees, but if they’re fussy throughout the game, at least everybody knows what to expect. I still don’t understand how Hills(33) didn’t get at least a yellow for going through the back of Robinson, I didn’t see the Salech challenge and how Pye(15) didn’t get a card either, he was niggly throughout the game and in the referee’s ear constantly. They must be really scraping the bottom of the barrel today with that guy, as he was awful.

Do refs have to rewatch the games they officiate? Will today's ref be judged at at all on today's display? Or does he just go home, have his dinner and forget it ever happened?

Halg the decent PL refs have moved to VASR, so there's a shortage at the top.
All the lower refs have been bimped up to the level above their competence.

but in response to the original point made, stating the bleeding obvious here but nobody should be suprised that League One football matches are officiated by League One quality referees, that's one of the reasons we have to get out of this dogshit league..

I genuinely think he's one of the worst refs I've ever seen. He was abysmal for both sides
