He's played most of his football at centre half and I'd say he looked more like a Mick McCarthy full back than a BBM one yesterday. (He looked like he could give American Football a go - I know you're a fan). Saying that, he may well not be fully match fit for now. Also, playing alongside Mannie Barton probably made him look bigger than he is, even Kylie Minogue would look like a unit next to him.

It's an interesting signing though. We've got four centre halves at first team level and three in the under-21s, left back is more of a priority for both so the plan could be to focus him there for now. He did ok yesterday, nice cross for the first goal, but it was no real test for anyone with Brentford having their keeper sent off inside five minutes and no cover on the bench. He's one to keep an eye on though.

My passion for American football dims when I realise that it ain’t gonna happen here. Georgia Tech head coach Kirby Smart is on a salary of $13.3 million per annum. To kit out a high level college footballer per game costs $1200!! . My three grandsons all play at a decent level for the same rugby team. I’m still buying their boots!!
