Re: A Blessing in Disguise?
Jason Perry says crowds are up. Not really accurate. We're currently below last season's average by a couple of hundred. Not terrible by any means, but maybe a bit disappointing under the circumstances.
The top three averages in League One at the moment are:
21,585 - Bolton
20,687 - Bradford
19,110 - Cardiff
Last season's average in the Championship was 19,344.
I remember some people saying they believed our crowds would increase after Christmas. Hasn't really happened. Not yet, anyway:
19,678 v Stevenage
18,174 v Wigan
19,684 v Stockport
17,841 v Barnsley
Hopefully, we won't implode from here on in and I don't believe we will. If we did, I think the novelty of League One football would wear off pretty rapidly for many supporters.

Re: A Blessing in Disguise?
Officially crowds haven’t changed, but you only need to look around the stadium to see the actual number of people through the gates has gone up. Some games last year were probably 5k+ lower than what was announced, I remember one particularly shit midweek game where the crowd was sparse enough to read the big “CARDIFF” in the Ninian stand seats.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostJason Perry says crowds are up. Re: A Blessing in Disguise?
Our home support has disappointingly seemed fairly static. The fluctuations in attendance has largely been down to the size of the away following. Stockport is the outlier as they brought loads but the crowd size stayed below 20k

Re: A Blessing in Disguise?
The amount of away support is definitely something that has changed a lot since our last stint in this league about 25 years ago….clubs like Mansfield or Stockport, used to 1 coach full if your lucky, now they all love a day out here it seems:sherlock:
If we stay top I reckon we will get a few 25ks March and April…..

Re: A Blessing in Disguise?
That's been true for the majority of the games, but there have been a few where the physical attendance has appeared a lot smaller than the declared attendance. What was the game when City went head-to-head with the rugby? Was it Mansfield? Honestly can't remember, but whichever one it was, it's a game where the crowd inside the stadium looked a lot smaller than the declared attendance.Originally posted by Canton Kev View PostOfficially crowds haven’t changed, but you only need to look around the stadium to see the actual number of people through the gates has gone up.

I think that's very optimistic.Originally posted by goats View PostIf we stay top I reckon we will get a few 25ks March and April…..
The Bolton game in April has the potential to draw a sizeable crowd, but I can't see any others that are likely to attract 25,000.

Re: A Blessing in Disguise?
Wasn't the Stevenage game also the same evening there were massive traffic problems in the city, so many season ticket holders possibly made a late decision not to attend? The official attendance of 19,678 being well wide of the actual.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostThat's been true for the majority of the games, but there have been a few where the physical attendance has appeared a lot smaller than the declared attendance. It’s only going to be a blessing in disguise, if we win promotion back to the Championship and then look to kick on from thereOriginally posted by Cleve van Leef View Post
I’m not suggesting back to back promotions, but as we swirled around the relegation plug hole for the last few years before actually getting sucked in as the worst team in the league, something has to change to avoid that happening again.
As much as I’m impressed with BBM and the young players that have developed, he will need backing and full support from the board, if we’re to
A) secure Championship football
B) build for the future and maintain a presence in the top half of the league
The question is does this board have the appetite for it?
Maybe they plan to sell up if promotion happens?
One thing for sure if Tan wants to get back any where near the money he’s laid out, it’s only going to happen by selling a successful business that someone else believes they can do better with imho

I'd be very surprised.Originally posted by Feedback View PostLincoln?
The biggest crowds this season so far have been:
22,291 v Exeter on Boxing Day
22,132 v Bradford (who brought 2,087 fans)
21,813 v Plymouth (who brought 3,032 fans)
Lincoln are not a big club (they're averaging 9,178 this season). I can't see them bringing the sort of numbers Bradford and Plymouth brought. And I can't see comfortably the biggest home crowd of the season for a 12:30 kick-off either.
