Re: 50,000
That’s quite mad re hertha, I quite fancy going to Germany on holiday, would have to take in a game. The atmospheres seem good tooOriginally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostIncredible.
Some of the crowds in German football are astonishing. For instance, the smallest home attendance Bundesliga 2 leaders Schalke 04 have had this season is 60,625. Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin, who are currently 7th in the second tier, have had two crowds that have topped 70,000.

Re: 50,000
I haven't been to a game in Germany for a while but local travel to the games (via local trains, tram and bus) used to be included in the low ticket price.Originally posted by ToTaL ITK View Postmaybe because they don't charge and arm and a leg for tickets
And additional fees when booking were minimal.

His name escapes me now, but a former German footballer turned executive at one of the clubs said something along the lines of "we make millions from tv, why rip the fans off with expensive tickets when it will make little difference to what we spend on players."

imagine thinking the ***** who run our game care for the fans and their pockets, rather than their ownOriginally posted by RichardM View PostHis name escapes me now, but a former German footballer turned executive at one of the clubs said something along the lines of "we make millions from tv, why rip the fans off with expensive tickets when it will make little difference to what we spend on players."

Re: 50,000
I must admit this tournament has largely passed me by and looking it up it seems games are usually played at training grounds so it's a remarkable crowd. You wonder if the premier league clubs will start to view it like the women's game as a serious way of offering alternative games at good prices?
More generally as discussed, German football does tend to do everything right and some of my major gripes are pretty much non issues there, such as all-seater stadiums and fair ticket prices.
