  • Iwan Morgan

Ex-Cardiff City academy player Iwan, who is on loan at Shrewsbury Town from Brentford, has just scored his first senior goal to give Salop the lead. I've streamed a few of his games over the past six weeks and he has looked pretty good. Hopefully he will kick on from here

What's the story as to how Iwan ended up at Swansea? You started a thread about him a while back but Sludge trampled all over it then got it locked (hard to believe, I know) before I was able to get an answer out of you.

I've never seen it said that we released him, did he just feel he had a better chance of making progress at Swansea? Fair enough back then, I guess.

Also, what's happened to him in the Wales set-up? He did well at u-17 level but seems to have dropped out of the picture after a few games for the u-19s. He's 20 now but hasn't played for the u-21s yet, as far as I'm aware. Seems surprising. Didn't Frank have him on the bench at Brentford a few times in 24-25?

Glad he's off the mark at Shrewsbury, keep us in touch with his progress.

It's good that he's in their first team as there's nothing worse than Salopy seconds.

😂 I'll tell that to my missus when she's not angry: she's a bit of a shrew.

I've followed the progress of quite a few talented youngsters and it's surprising how many don't fulfil their early potential.

Did she take a bit of taming?

and is backing himself. He had a good offer to go to Swansea and then a better offer to go to Brentford. He scored loads of goals for Brentford B and was on the bench for the last few games of last season's PL games, so T Frank clearly rated him.

I have watched a few of his games (streaming) for Salop and he really does look good. Their fans love him already. He has just turned 20 so the time is right for him to begin his senior career. He hit the bar on Saturday too!

I have no idea why he isn't involved with Wales, after being a huge success with the U17s. If he kicks on this season and scores a few more goals then Brentford may loan him to a L1 side next season and Wales will surely include him in U21s squads.

Very interesting, thank you for that. Good luck to him.

                    Re: Iwan Morgan

Iwan has scored his second league goal today for Salop v Accrington Stanley.

He has now scored more EFLeague goals than any other forward who has been in recent Wales U21s squads excepting Cian Ashford.

Surely he has to be picked for Wales U21s? He has only just had his 20th birthday

                        Re: Iwan Morgan

Iwan scores again - a 25 yard free kick to equalise v Walsall. That makes 3 goals in 9 league starts for the Shrews - and two of them were shots from outside the box.

This kid has definitely got 'it'.
