The officials are having a nightmare in the Villa v Newcastle game. Villa’s goal looked offside to me, Newcastle were denied a clear penalty and how Digne is still on the pitch, Lord only knows.

Now Villa’s keeper has been sent off when there were defenders covering behind him.

Now Villa’s keeper has been sent off when there were defenders covering behind him.

Even worse giving a free kick for a handball that was easily in the penalty area. Poetic justice that Newcastle equalised from it.

Now Digne has handled the ball at least a yard inside the penalty area and Chris Kavanagh has given a free kick a foot outside the area - Newcastle have equalised from the free kick, so justice, but Kavanagh is having a Mark Clattenburg v Leeds at Ninian Park in 2007 type shocker tonight.

To be fair to Kavanagh, I now think he got the sending off of the Villa keeper right because it was a poor tackle that deserved one as opposed to the sort of last man red card that Wintle was given last week.

A yard in the area? And the rest. Lino was down that end too. An absolute mare from the officials.. Luckily justice was done and they scored off the free kick.

That’s the sort of thing VAR was brought in for not a talking 5 minutes and ruling out goals. because a pimple on the kneecap was offside.
