If this was a Warnock team I can’t imagine he’d be playing much.
Neil Warnock would have a wet dream about Joel Colwill in centre mid. He's got almost every attribute Warnock values

I think people might have forgotten how good Jordan James is. I'd snap your hands off to bring him here next season. I thought we could improve the midfield by upgrading Wintle, however, with Robertson excelling on Saturday maybe he's that man, so we might need someone to replace Robertson in CM. JJ has been outstanding for Leicester. He's got 9 from open play this season.

The quality that has impressed me most with Colwell recently has been his phenomenal energy and the amount of ground he’s covering, whether it’s going forward or defensively,he just seems to be everywhere, his anticipation of what’s going to happen next is improving all the time, which gives you and extra yard of pace.

Exactly. I thought it was a strange comment. I reckon Colwill Jnr would be right up Warnock's street.

I like Joel Colwill but Jordan James is a much better player at the moment. The only bright spot in Leicester's dismal season

I thought it stood for Big Beautiful Woman, but then I am quite the romantic :hehe:

The original question was why the player couldn’t get a game at Exeter last season. GB suggested it was because they were not coached by BBM.

Colwill joined Exeter on 12/01/2025. Subsequently, they played 22 League One matches before the end of the 2024/25 campaign. Joel’s stats in those matches were:

                  9 (+9) appearances, 0 goals

This season, under BBM’s guidance, Joel’s stats in City’s first 22 League One games were:

                  11 (+7) appearances, 1 goal

So, 18 appearances in 22 league games for both clubs, but two more starts and one goal at Cardiff. Very similar records indeed.

I’ll have to bow to your greater knowledge of the Exeter manager’s abilities last season. I was too busy watching Omer Riza make an unholy mess of things at Cardiff City to worry about what was happening at St James Park.

I believe Colwill Jnr is improving with age and experience. Perhaps you don’t, it’s unclear from what you’ve posted.
I don't think it's any one thing. Player development, especially youth development, can be down to a number of factors. It's been a theme of the Academy thread as well as the loan thread that players develop in different ways.

Of course age and experience are two of those factors but I think it's too simple to say that's all a player needs. How's that working out for Ben Woodburn? If it's all that's needed then Kpakio is better now than he was at the start of the season, our eyes must be playing tricks on us.

When Ollie Tanner won us the South Wales Derby four months after a miserable loan spell I certainly wouldn't say it was because he was only 20 at York but 21 at Cardiff. I don't agree with Garth Blue either when he says it's all down to the manager. That would make Bulut a genius in Tanner's case.

I've found it interesting that Joel has played so well in a slightly advanced role, which is where he played at Cheltenham, as far as I'm aware, when we've tended to play him deeper at all levels here. What happens when his brother is ready to start again? And when Salech is fit? If he can consistently play at the level he has lately he'll be a hard player to drop.

                    Neath boys they are.

I think their father played for Briton Ferry or Cimla, (or both at different times).

His uncle and grandfather have a removals firm and are very hard working chaps.
