  • FA Cup 5th rd draw

    Fulham vs Southampton
Port Vale or Bristol City vs Sunderland
    Newcastle United vs Manchester City
    Leeds United vs Norwich City
    Mansfield Town vs Arsenal
    Wolves vs Liverpool
    Wrexham vs Chelsea
West Ham vs Macclesfield or Brentford

Great reward for Mansfield. Tidy home draw for Wrexham as well. And a Daniel Farke reunion with Norwich.

That's two Welsh teams Chelsea have played this season now.

Shame none of the non PL teams were drawn together to guarantee one in the QF. Norwich are the only team I can see possibly progressing.

As for the rest, I reckon it’s arrivederci

I think you'll find that Chelsea have their glamour tie.

I reckon the wurzels could beat Sunderland as long as they get past Port Vale and I wouldn’t write Wrexham off against Chelsea.

Using Chelsea as a yardstick to try and see how we’d fare in the Championship, I’d say we gave them a tougher game than Charlton or Hull did in the FA Cup, but Lincoln ran them closer than we did when they only lost 2-1 to them in the League Cup.

Cup games aren't a genuine marker at all, especially as the sides fielded by clubs tend to vary significantly.

Macclesfield beat Crystal Palace and were narrowly beaten by Brentford, but I don't think they'll be knocking on the door of the Premier League any time soon.

I reckon the Mickys will beat Wolves, thus putting out at least one premier league team

And cup games in the modern era are played differently, certainly in the early rounds. The games are much more open, more space is allowed, bothe teams just go for it as the cup competitions aren't considered to be that important anymore, even to championship clubs. The fans see it as a bit of a night off, no pressure etc. Add to that completely different starting line ups etc. It's not like years ago. That doesn't mean that I'm saying that we didn't perform well against Chelsea.

Well, they’re the only thing we can go by this season if we want to compare us with Championship teams. I’m sure if you asked Chelsea who gave them the toughest time in away cup ties against Charlton, Hull and us, they’d say we did - Charlton barely laid a glove on them and Hull were never really in the game once their bright start fizzled out. I didn’t see the Lincoln v Chelsea match, but reading a couple of match reports, it sounds like they gave Chelsea a real scare.
