Long old day.

Doncaster station after the match was horrendous. Not only did we have all the football crowd but Doncaster races were on and the station was rammed trying to get a lot of high spirited people onto trains towards Sheffield.

Not enough capacity on the trains to get everyone on comfortabley, standing room only for many and tensions were high on the platform with a couple of nasty scraps. A few collars felt as the police were quick to break things up.

The delays that followed because of the time taken to squeeze people onto the train at Donny meant we missed our connection at Birmingham. Thankfully there was a local service going to Worcester town centre which got us to within a taxi ride of our car.

Eventually home at midnight.

I mentioned at half time in the match thread that it was very unusual for all four Welsh teams to be playing away on the same Saturday and you do wonder why we couldn’t have played at Doncaster back in December at a time when we were in a run of something like six out of seven games at home and in Cardiff yesterday. I’m pretty sure the days when there would be a race meeting at Doncaster would have been known at the time the fixtures for 25/26 were announced and you would have thought that the EFL and Doncaster would have taken steps to avoid a clash with a race meeting where possible.

When I came off the train the station concourse looked like a Fresher's Ball. This is the reason why. 5000 students from all local universities going to the Yorkshire Invades Race Meeting. Crazy day!

Mike...surely with our game finishing at 2.30, you could've caught a train before the racing had finished?

Here’s a clip of the fight that broke out right next to me. A train had just left taking loads of race goers back to Sheffield. Those that couldn’t get on and the Cardiff fans waiting for the train to Bristol were the ones left on the platform.

I’m on the video holding a Sainsbury’s bag right next to the scrap (bag contained some alcohol free brew dog, mini eggs and clementines)
