    Found this video interesting

Alex Robertson - 121 Technical Analysis I have been lucky enough to work with Alex for the past 3-months now as his "Technical Analyst" & he has agreed to let me share some insights as to what we do: - Clip All Touches - Review Against Our Agreed Development Plan - Weekly https://t.co/gXjoh33pgq

Think Wintle, Robertson and Joel Colwill combination is the best balanced central misfield we’ve had in ages - BBM’s got some tough, but enviable, decisions to make with Rubin Colwill back and Salech, hopefully, back soon.

        Re: Alex Robertson

That point about opening up the body when receiving the ball from the defender is such a small thing, but it makes such a massive difference. Big part of why Siopis was such a frustrating player.

On a separate note, seems like this this guy is contracted by Robertson himself, rather than the club. Great to see him taking the initiative, and that data would suggest it's improving his game. I wonder if that kind of thing is encouraged by BBM or if he/his coaches have any oversight over what they want the analyst to work on with him.

            Re: Alex Robertson

            really interesting.

I remember reading an analyst commenting about Wayne Rooney towards the end of his career. he'd lost a yard of pace and wasn't as effective up front any more and so was trying to play in midfield, but the analyst was pointing out that even though when he had the ball he was still probably one of the better players on thie pitch, his body position and scanning were all wrong, so every time he got the ball it was as though he was seeing where the defence was for the first time

Rooney came down here as Derby player manager in one of the games against them during Covid and played in midfield - he gave possibly the worst performance IĀ’ve ever seen from a really good player in my life and he was at fault with the goal by Lee Tomlin that gave us a 2-1 win if I remember rightly. I wonder if anyone at Derby had the guts to tell him the sort of things the bloke you talk about had noticed?

                Re: Alex Robertson

Personally I think he’s playing a lot better than he was when he started playing for us. His positioning has improved along with his distribution and most noticeably willingness to keep running. Scoring a couple of goals also helps with the motivation. How much is down to BBMs coaching and how much due to his analyst is interesting because this is the first time I’ve heard of this kind of approach.

Seems to work. Carry on please.

Yep, I agree with that.

(All of them have improved this season especially Joel Colwill, or maybe this league is more their level.)
