At least he recognises we don't shoot enough. I hope the players realise that too

“I’m very disappointed with the result. With so many of our supporters in the stadium present in such numbers, we wanted to give them the perfect day, but today it wasn’t possible.

“I thought it was an even game. When the score was 0-0, I thought we were always more likely to score - their keeper made a couple of great saves in the first half. If we scored the first goal, it would have put us in a great situation.

“There were moments in the first half where we got in good situations in wide areas, which we worked on. Our intention was to get behind their defence and play fast crosses across the box, but we didn’t produce enough quality in those moments which meant we had to rely on shots from the edge of the box.

“We couldn’t find that goal, and Lincoln did a good job of protecting their goal and then scoring a goal on the break. I think once Lincoln scored, they had even more numbers in their box, so it can be quite difficult to find the right opening.

"I think we could have shot more for sure, and I thought we had good crossing opportunities late in the game, which we didn't quite utilise to an ideal effect. The players can improve that and we will, I'm sure.

“The players here are in a good place. I’m very pleased with the players and the squad we have.

“Every time we’ve had a setback this season, we’ve always bounced back and we’ll try and make it right on Tuesday. I think we’ve lost three out of 25.

“The support here in our stadium has been incredible and we were very aware of how many supporters were coming. I wanted to make it the perfect day, but today we weren’t able to do that, and all we can do is to try and bounce back”

Fair enough. I don't think they were better than us. Quite the opposite. They just did what they did, and we did what we do and unfortunately that hasn't work for us against these type of teams. Going forward though, BBM needs to find out how to unlock these sort of defences. There'll be plenty of them next season too. And we really need to sort out our defence. Unless almost every defender we've got improves, we're going to need new faces.

That’s what concerns me a tad - teams like Lincoln are ten a penny in the Championship. Strong, organised, happy to hit you on the break.

We are going to have to tweak our style. Will BBM ever compromise? Not sure

Just like in any other league, you don't meet too many sides that are unbeaten in seventeen games - I say in my blog that lLincoln looked a much better side to me than they did in beating us at their place almost three months ago. Maybe if we had played them a fortnight ago when we were still unbeaten in twelve, it may have turned out different, but, instead we had the memory of a 5-2 defeat to factor into the equation and I'm afraid we looked like a side that didn't think they could come back after they'd conceded the first goal against a team that had so much momentum behind them.

Individually there is loads more talent skill and flare at Cardiff. But as a team playing their tactics they were better both matches. BBM outthunk

I think they're a good team and they deserve to be where they are. They won't be push overs in the Championship next season either.

I thought they were limited in skill, but effective with what they had.
I think they'll struggle next season if they stick with what they have/do now.

We will need better players if he wants play the same way next season. Hopefully this supposed stadium plan with the FAW will encourage Tan to pony up a decent transfer budget.

I'm with you, BBM. Some of his post-match stuff is more like a fan's review, isn't it? But the high ceiling is there for everyone to see. He’s identified the mistakes from the last few results, and he's got the brains to fix them. It’s a big lesson for a young manager and a young group of players, but they'll come out the other side much stronger.

He talks about crossing opportunities and he kept trying to play an aerial game with no Salech and against tall, physical centre backs when they had 11 behind the ball. That speaks to a lack of adaptability and he will be found out in the Championship.

Apart from Trotts poor distribution, I don't think any individual player had a noticeably bad game. I think it's all on the manager trying the same crossing into a crowded area and expecting different results. I thought Osho and Joel stood out with good performances.
