…and didn’t breach the Football financial sustainability regulations, and so no points deduction.

Someone massaged their balance sheet very well

          Exactly.

This halving the penalty because they were cooperative in the investigation is pathetic.

Transfer ban for two years would hit them harder.

          Corruption right through the game!

If you're Everton or Nottingham Forest you get a points deduction for breaking the rules. If you're Chelsea or Man City you don't.

The only way to stop this getting worse is zero tolerance. If the League has no integrity, why should the clubs?

In fairness, I believe it was Chelsea themselves who reported the issues when the new owners discovered them. That does show a degree of integrity. Probably not a popular opinion, but there we go.

I'd take away all the illegitimately gained silverware and give it the runners-up, that way you punish those who were directly responsible.

Do you think that would satisfy anyone? I don't.

It's the middle ground, and the least that should happen.

I wouldn’t think it matters if stripping silverware won by Chelsea in the period they cheated satisfied anyone or not. That’s not the point of the punishment.
The whole point of it, would be to alter the history books, and Chelsea’s club history itself, to show future generations of Chelsea supporters and football supporters in general, that blatant cheating and fiscal skullduggery doesn’t go unpunished.

Were the payments hidden by accident?

The payments were made by the previous owner. (Abramovich). The current owners reported it, which has to give them some sort of credit, but at the same time, the £10.5m fine they’ve been handed, and all other costs will be paid from Abramovich’s confiscated fortune, that is supposedly going to be given to the Ukranian war effort. The whole thing stinks..
