It’s such an awful disease. And his poor wife saw her mother die from it as well.

One of the most humble blokes i've ever met in football. No edge to him (which probably held him back) Went to college with him for a year and a bit and played against him plenty of times. We would do five a side with Paul Sanderson and kick **** out of each other:hehe: he was the best one out of the jacks. proper Merthyr boy.

Jason Bowen was very slightly built, but technically excellent.
Just out of interest, who was the most gifted player you played with, and who was the most gifted player you played against?

The most gifted would probably be Alan Curtis, i played a reserve game with him as he was coming back from injury. Not gifted as such, but incredibly difficult to play against was a player named junior Bent for Bristol City. Just so fast. I played against loads of youth teams and i sometimes wonder who was playing for them. Crewe were very good back then. I came up against ian Bowyer? when he was at Hereford, he must have been about 60, but he was still class, the ball would just stick to him, i was way out of my station.

Just to add, a kid named Lee Powell from Newport, wide right. He terrorised me. Think he ended up at Southampton and then drifted out of the game.

Thanks. I'll watch it. I was getting married when he was born. It's extremely sad.His tenure with City coincided with my peak contracts abroad.I used to plan my leave, to be able to fit in home games back then.

Jason Bowen describes the pain of telling his wife and three sons he has motor neurone disease.

I watched it pleasantly surprised by how good he looked and sounded - surprised it’s only two years since he was diagnosed, seems longer than that to me.

                      Thats an old video Bob.

There was a more recent interview on the news last night and sadly the deterioration is there which he acknowledged.

Horrible illness. All the best to him and his family seems a great bloke and one of the rare players we had in the day who was enjoyable to watch.

Yes, it was from 2023 wasn’t it. Sorry about that.

This is more up to date.

Jason Bowen, a father-of-three who in his early fifties, says he is losing the use of his arms, legs and voice.

It’s been 4/5 years Bob. Didnt come out in the public until 3 years ago. The Cardiff v Swansea legends game was 2023.
