Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the assembled press following City’s 2-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers at Cardiff City Stadium.

“I’m very disappointed with the result,” Brian began. “I felt naturally that we were in good control of the game, but the sending off changes a lot of the game.

“The players’ efforts were incredible. We created good chances with ten men in the second half, and I thought we would score, but we didn’t.

“We attacked right to the end. We had a decision to make when Gabriel [Osho] got sent off about whether to bring on another centre-back, but we kept all our players on the pitch in the same way as we did at Rotherham. Performance wise, I thought it gave us a great chance to win the game, but we just couldn’t take our chances and we conceded.

“I thought we were in control of the game at all stages, even with ten men. I thought we were the dominant team, but the scoreline doesn’t reflect that and that’s all people will remember.”

Despite the defeat, Brian highlighted recent performances as a source of encouragement and believes that City are more than capable of responding strongly.

He said: “I think we’re in pretty good form, performance wise. We want to win all our eight remaining games. Our intention is to try and win every single one.

"I’m very pleased with the players and where we are. I thought we played brilliantly on Saturday; there was so much expression in the performance.

“We feel as if we’re learning a lot during the course of the season. We're very keen to have more opportunities on goal, more shots, more crosses, more goalmouth action for the supporters to enjoy. We did that on Saturday and the same tonight, but I think we've been the top scorers in the league for quite a lot of different periods, so I don't think we can criticise the players for that.”

He can be as pleased as he likes over the performance, but it is the score that counts.
We are lucky to have a decent points cushion, or we could droop into the play-off places.
While the red card changed the game, I think BBM got the subs wring tonight

      Michael Duff:

      “I’m really pleased.

“We were very good against a top, top team.

“The sending off was obviously the turning point, but I think it was a red card – it looked pretty reckless at the time.

“They had a lot of territory in the first half, and they played around us a lot, but never through us.

“I can’t remember Will Norris having to make a save.

“We had a couple of opportunities on the counter, and I was actually pleased with the first half.

"The first five minutes of the second half were a disaster.

“We looked as though we couldn’t find the ball.

“We grew into it, and the subs came on and impacted the game.

"They are a good team, and even with 10 men, they hurt you.

“If it had ended up at 0-0 playing against 10 men, I would still have respected that point because they are so good at what they do.

“We haven’t been good away from home, so winning here was good.

“There looks as though there are two slots available in the play-off places and about six or seven teams with a chance.

“What we have now is a chance, although ultimately we have to keep on winning matches.

“If we can overcome a few mentality issues, which the first 88 minutes against Bolton and the 90 tonight prove, then we can compete against the best.”

BBM has got an awful lot wrong in recent weeks. The most worrying part is that lots of it is from overthinking. Wintle at cb???? Trying to be clever

Too be honest neither can I, we had 3 shots on target out of 19, those that got through to him were scuffed or no power

I agree. The majority simply expected Fish to appear after HT. The brave but foolish attacking option ran its course after about 15 minutes, he should have acted then. My fear is now Saturday, simply because of the number of players running on empty at the end.

I was at Wycombe where we had ten men and still dominated the game so I’ll give BBM no criticism for trying that again.

I feel having no natural striker on the pitch held us back

Why didn’t he bring another defender on and just take a point maybe? Poor mgt…..

We are not lucky to have a good points difference; we've earned it, we are missing Salech in some games now, as teams are just parking the bus and trying to hit on the break.

he's wobbling a bit and hardly inspiring. we all know we can mess this up, we really are missing Salech!

I agree; were definitely missing Salech and this silly tinkering is costing us. I hope he comes to his senses and stops this constant defensive rotation.

Wintle was sent off in the game hes talking about and there wasn't really any need to make a change as we had no striker on the pitch.

We had 2 CBs on the bench and no keeper. Im not sure you can justify having no keeper on the bench and 2 CBs if you are going to put a midfielder at centre back.

Last nights defeat was self inflicted by by the players and manager.

To be fair they've got it right most of the season and hopefully we get the 3 points Saturday. Im sure BBM wont go into Dave Jones as long as we scrape over the line it doesn't matter.

3 points Saturday and then hopefully 2 strikers Salech and Davies become available.

I like BBM and there's no doubt he's done a decent job so far, but recently he's been straying into Russell Martin territory with his talk of 'the Cardiff way'. Meanwhile, last night's decision not to bring on a centre-back after Osho's dismissal was just plain daft. Why have two centre-backs on the bench if you're not going to use either of them after you've had a player in that position sent off?

We ended last night's game with no centre-backs on the pitch. It was like Mick McCarthy in reverse and equally as bonkers.
