Re: Five hours, no goals
The club employed (I use the term loosely) another gentleman who was a resident of Ely Hospital. His name was Sammy, he was around 5ft 2, wore a fur coat, and would be in charge of the tea room which adjoined the home changing room at Ninian park. He would supply the players, home and away, and officials with their pre, half time and post match brew. I have some funny memories of Sammy as I would be on match duty as a 15 year old (Hoovering, collecting kit, assisting Harry Parsons etc) Anyone remember John (Think that was his name) who used to work the gate on match days? Lived on Western Avenue, was as fit as a gypsies whippet. If ever there was a "Man that works at the fairground" look, John had it. Happy memories.
