Re: Community Shield to be held in Cardiff
Agreed. I met a few fans on the day of the first cup final, they hated the thought of it, then when they got here they couldn't believe how good it was, with the ease of getting here and all the pubs so close.Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostAnd the teams in the final, they love games at Cardiff and can make a weekend of it.
Wembley is a nice stadium in a shithole.

I suspect it was only the media who hated it when the finals were in Cardiff - certainly the fans I knew who went to millennium finals loved the centrality of it all with pubs hotels and restaurants all in walking distance of the town and also the attitude of the police was different as well 👍Originally posted by bobh View PostAgreed. Yeah, but fans don't have to drink in and around Wembley, or whatever they're going to do. They can pretty much go anywhere North of the river without having too much bother getting to the stadium in good time.Originally posted by bobh View PostAgreed. You can, I think though one of the nice things is you spill out into the bars, hopefully in celebration, surrounded by fellow fans. In London if you travel any distance out from Wembley plenty wouldn't even know a match was on.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostYeah, but fans don't have to drink in and around Wembley, or whatever they're going to do. Re: Community Shield to be held in Cardiff
Very true, and i get the point you're making, Cardiff is obviously more intimate. I'm just a bit weird, i don't want to be around a load of bloody football fans celebrating a win........Originally posted by Trigger View PostYou can, I think though one of the nice things is you spill out into the bars, hopefully in celebration, surrounded by fellow fans. Re: Community Shield to be held in Cardiff
Should be moved around the country periodically imo.
Newcastle, Everton, both Manchester clubs and Villa (especially after their expansion) could all host it and it’s an event away from London. Throw in Cardiff and that covers most regions of the UK.
