  • BB-M pre Peterborough

Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press ahead of the Easter Monday trip to Peterborough United, the first of seven remaining games in the 2025/26 Sky Bet League One season.

"We played them in the FA Cup, and probably got an insight into the type of team they were starting to become," Brian began.

"They're a very good team; I think in the last fixtures of League One they were the youngest team in the whole of the EFL, and ourselves were second. You're going to see two very good teams, two very young teams, both going for the win. It should be a cracker.

"If we can win on Monday, we'll be in a brilliant position – that's our sole focus for now."

Brian and his squad will have enjoyed a 17-day gap between their previous fixture and the clash with the Posh, which has allowed for valuable time on the training pitch.

The boss continued: "We've trained pretty intensely, and have benefitted a lot in terms of the amount of training time we've had with the players. It's been great for us to have that period.

"The nature of the league is that it's so intense and the fixtures come so quickly, that whenever you have a period where you can actually train without a game, it can feel as if it's a chance to refresh and focus on how we want to play.

"The players have been so good to put us in a position where we have such an exciting end to the season.

"Each game individually is different, and I definitely feel as if we've learnt a lot from the previous games. We've worked on a lot of things that are specific for us to be at our best, and now we have to go and show it."

Brian also offered a fitness update ahead of Monday's match, with several players having been involved in international action over the past fortnight.

He said: "We're not quite clear on the lads who have come back from international duty. Dylan Lawlor has to be assessed, as he came off in the game against Northern Ireland. He's damaged his toe, but I don't think it's serious – there's no fracture there.

"Rubin Colwill hasn't trained with us yet. He had some hamstring pain whilst in the Wales camp, and returned to us. Fingers crossed, he'll train with us before the game on Monday.

"Yousef Salech is back in the very early stages of training with us. He's trained for the first time yesterday with the group, so it's good to have him back.

"It's given us all a big lift to have him back, but he has been out for a very long time and is still going through the process of making sure that he's okay in all the different aspects that he has to get through before we're really confident that he can be involved in a squad.

"Isaak Davies is still out injured. Isaak's is more complicated than I thought; he hasn't had any setbacks, but it just hasn't materialised that he's been able to re-join us. He seems almost ready to go, so it won't be long."

    Re: BB-M pre Peterborough

Easter Monday at Peterborough 1976. Very similar position. Not quite as good. I went as an 18 year old with a turkey drumstick for box that mam made up for me 😂we drew 0-0 and got promoted at Bury courtesy of a 1-0 win. Alston goal. Great season. Think we’d take 0-0 this time or 4-4 😀
