Re: Belfast
thanks for all the advise, I walked it on Saturday, what a random place
got a black cab from Titanic museum, explained to the guy what we were doing, he said he would give us a tour, but when I pointed out we only had about 1 hour, he said he couldnt do the tour justice as he always shows all the sights ( fair enough ) and told us where to walk
dropped off at the Bobby Sands mural, then did my planned walk, the place is crazy, Falls felt like Dublin ( went the day before ) not so much of a touristy vibe though but plenty of tourists, but saw maybe 6 blokes in Celtic shirts, walked down to the wall behind some houses, I was surprised how tall it was, I know the reason, but still surprised , then walked through the gates into the most random place ever, Union flags everywhere, spotted 2 shops that only appeared to sell bunting and flags and union flag hats and waistcoats, loads of UVF flags, it appeared 30% of the blokes had Rangers shirts on, a collection for something or other was taking place, 2 ex British land rovers were parked up and what looked like army vets were walking down the middle of the road with buckets
while looking at google maps to find directions, a few stopped and asked what we were looking for on both sides, very friendly
Shankill felt very weird, very British patriotic but also very sad with all the memorials that they will never forget
on a side note if anyone is going , in Belfast Uber isnt really a thing ( I know Uber might be too modern for most on here ) but plenty of cabs around ( apart from on tours and on Shankill where we couldnt find one, so had to walk to the petrol station on Falls )
had 3 cab drivers, one from cruise port to titanic quarter was about 65, Catholic and very strong feelings, driver from titanic to bobby sands was late 50's obviously from Shankill and cracked 2 inbred catholic jokes, cab driver to the airport was from Falls ( the street opposite bobby sands mural ) but his fave Chinese carry out was on Shankill, he was 53 and wasnt caught up in the hatred they have for each other. 3 Cab drivers, 3 completely different views

Re: Belfast
back today from a short break found the place fascinating .Did the touristy things that most have mentioned on here and surprised how many tourists were there this weekend . Did the open top sightseeing bus instead of the taxi services mentioned on here . On the Saturday in the centre the place was rammed with Celtic fans near the city hall . Glad I went would recommend if you haven't been before
To top the weekend drove straight to Swansea today straight after touch down to watch our futsal side clinch the FAW national league and will now represent Wales in the UEFA Futsal champions league in August . Another European adventure beckons for me :ayatollah:
