BBM 's decision making was a breath of fresh air up to February but certainly after Lincoln he seems to have lost his confidence and clear thinking and has turned into a predictable fearful coach who is really struggling at the moment . Attacking players are letting him down with the finishing, if they were at it we'd have an exta 15 points.

I don't think he's lost confidence at all. Quite the opposite. He hasn't changed a thing, that's the problem.

To be fair mind, if you look at the stats you can see why he hasn't changed much. We're getting the chances we're just not putting them away and its not like he can put the ball in the net

Peterborough - 28 shots
Blackpool - 26 shots
Wycombe - 19 shots
Exeter - 30 shots
Barnsley - 13 shots

We really should be getting more than 6 goals from all of that and if we keep putting up those kinds of numbers then the goals will come

How many of those chances were good chances though and forced the keeper into a decent save?

To be fair mind, if you look at the stats you can see why he hasn't changed much. We're getting the chances we're just not putting them away and its not like he can put the ball in the net

We really should be getting more than 6 goals from all of that and if we keep putting up those kinds of numbers then the goals will come

It does make you wonder as these were the shot numbers, let alone the opportunities that are spurned for yet another pass. That would at least double these figures.

Too many of the shots we’ve had recently have been hit and hope though. It’s as if they’ve taken previous criticism from fans about not shooting enough to the opposite extreme and, in doing so, they’ve proved BBM right in his view that long range shooting rarely brings a goal.

I'm not sure if they are hit and hope really, we tend to have worked some kind of angle or space for someone to take a shot, its rarely a case of someone strolling forward and thinking "f*ck it I'll have a go" which is what hit and hope would normally be

I think part of the issue is that we tend to create these positions for Wintle rather than Colwill/Robertson/Turnbull

Our shooting has been very much hit and hope in three of our most recent games with the number of clean, technically good, shots being able to be counted on the fingers of two, possibly one, hands

Based on Monday, it’s no bad thing that it’s Wintle the ball is falling to with long range chances. Robertson and Turnbull can score goals from distance, but not many of them - Turnbull’s shooting at City has been a big, big disappointment given his record at Celtic. As for Rubin, when’s the last time he scored from outside the penalty area in open play? There’s been two great strikes from free kicks from him this season, but his shooting from distance in open play has declined a lot since he was a teenager - he very rarely strikes the ball well these days.
