Rivalry between clubs maybe, but how much hatred can you have between people that go to the same schools, drink in the same pubs etc?

Liverpool and Manure although not the same city are not far apart and generate a lot of hostility

Over 30 miles between them. There's also a big rivalry between the cities.

2010 Carling cup match was described as like a war zone by West Midlands Police,

These things go in cycles a bit. I don't sense our derby is as big as it was, which is weird given there has been some classics recently. I went to the Liberty in 2024 when we lost 2-0 and it was so poor.

Does feel there is a bit less needle than there was. I wonder whether the success of Wales plays a part, as fans are mixing far more?

Nearly all of these derbies have lost a little something I think, as football has slowly been chipped away at by TV companies, ticket prices and the like

West Ham vs Sunderland? That's a rivalry that's completely passed me by

                Rangers/Celtic, West Ham/Millwall, Cardiff/Swansea. My top 3 personally.

Worst rivalry is the forced Brighton/Palace one. I know Brighton have barely any teams to rival with, but still.

I don't disagree, it's a strange one but I doubt there is much difference in mileage between Cardiff and Swansea and Palace and Brighton.

That’s because it should have read West Ham v Millwall :hehe:

Swansea are the closest team team to us at the same level. Palace have plenty of teams closer to them.

Yeah they do, but Brighton don't. And we have Newport closer to us and Bristol much the same.

Palace / Brighton is a weird one, but that doesn't make it bad. I don't think it's purely geographical either, some kind of 80s rivalry too I think
