Re: Cov back in premier League
Good for them. Past few years of them has reminded me of our late noughties/early 10's where we were always getting close but not quite getting there, but still a team to be respected in the division. Best of luck to them in the cutthroat Prem.

Re: Cov back in premier League
My partner is from Coventry. She is not a football fan but has been texting her relatives tonight - her cousin Sue is a hard core Sky Blue - and the joy/relief is ‘sky high’.
Hopefully the season after next - when they have been relegated back to the Championship - I will be able to resume friendly sparing with Sue again!
I have missed that.

Many, including myself, ridiculed the club for sacking Mark Robins and then appointing Frank Lampard.
They finished 4th last year and promoted with three games to spare this year.
Mark Robins now at Stoke, who are currently 16th.
I bet the Coventry board feel like right numpties.

My aunty lived in Coventry and as a kid and when we visited her (and despite our own CCFC being my first love) I used to occasionally go and see the likes of Earnie Hunt, Willie Carr and Bill Glazier do their thing at Highfield Road - and I was the only kid who played footy in the local park in a Coventry kit, my closest friends' 'second' teams (as it seemed acceptable to have one in the top tier at that time and despite our loyalty to the Bluebirds) being Chelsea, Arsenal or Celtic, whose kits they wore.Originally posted by jon1959 View PostMy partner is from Coventry. At that time and under the stewardship of Jimmy Hill, Coventry were miles ahead of their time regarding club branding and the club colours on so many things at the their stadium.
If my memory serves me correctly even the paper cups that tea was served in were sky blue and with the club logo on them, which was revolutionary at the time.

Re: Cov back in premier League
Pre match build up was headline news on Midlands Today by us. Live reporting from Ewood Park...coaches leaving for Blackburn...supporters in pubs getting far too excited. Then a piece about blue cakes being made and a butcher who had produced blue sausages for the occasion. That was beyond. Ugh!Originally posted by Taunton Blue Genie View PostMy aunty lived in Coventry and as a kid and when we visited her (and despite our own CCFC being my first love) I used to occasionally go and see the likes of Earnie Hunt, Willie Carr and Bill Glazier do their thing at Highfield Road - and I was the only kid who played footy in the local park in a Coventry kit, my closest friends' 'second' teams (as it seemed acceptable to have one in the top tier at that time and despite our loyalty to the Bluebirds) being Chelsea, Arsenal or Celtic, whose kits they wore.
