    Re: Dai Hunt, RIP

R.I.P Dai. Have known him since September '70 when we both started Whitchurch comp at the same time. Always a right royal pain in the ass, but his heart was in the right place. He would have been 66 or 67, which is no age today. I feel very, very sad hearing of his passing.

Thanks, I thought he was a bit younger than that.

He worked for a short time with Royal Mail years & years ago, got sacked for dumping the advertising leaflets!

Sad sad news about Dave. Yes he was a pain in the arse sometimes, but he loved Cardiff City with a passion. I bumped into him in Asda Coryton, a couple of weeks ago & he gave his usual loud opinions on the City & BBM and the tactics that he should be trying. Lol.

I'd known Dave since the late 70s/ early 80s when he used to come into the back bar area of the New Inn, Birchgrove and generally make a nuisance of himself with us all, but he was harmless enough & a nice, if loud, chap. He would have been about 66. He was in school in the same year as my wife but not in any of her classes.

Obviously he will be remembered by many many City fans and I hope the club give him a fitting tribute at an upcoming home game and even a feature in the match day programme. He would have also been known well by our current players and many more who have played for us over the years. Ironic that he passed on the day we were promoted. I just hope he was there to witness it at Reading.

                RIP Dave.

The man, the myth, the legend. There will never be another Dai Hunt, one thing that was undeniable about him was his raw passion. Hope he got to hear of our promotion.

Met him on a ‘normal’ night out once. Just the same away from the games, maybe more so. Never wanted to be too close for obvious reasons. This news is very sad. Of all days. RIP Dai

That's so sad. I sat near him in the Bob Bank in the early 90s and used to chat to him as the ground was filling up. 60 odd is no age.

I was '71 WHS intake so Dai was 66/67. He had a seat in front or behind us on the Bob Bank then in front of us in the Canton. Last time I spoke to him was by Fred Keenor's statue when the promo film for STs was being made. He had to sign an artist release form for taking part even though it was a walk across the shot "part". Always loud, highly opinionated and frequently wanted to show you something out of his bag. A double page picture of the old Wembley comes to mind. He was still bitter about the various bans the club imposed on him (shop/car park/player's events). Strangely, I'll miss him. And his scarf. One person you thought would always be there....mainly because, he was!
RIP Dai Hunt. Hope you got to see us promoted.

So sad to hear of Dai’s passing on such a fantastic day for the bluebirds. No doubt a pain in the Harris, but you could not fault his devotion to the City. RIP Dai.

A minute shouting before the game would perhaps be appropriate.
