Congratulations to the Devils yesterday winning the playoffs.

Beat Steelers 5-2 in the final.

Annoyed that I forgot all about it.

Anyone here watch it or go to Nottingham for the weekend?

it was a good match. The Steelers dominated the second period but Yaremko scored twice in quick succession. with 5 minutes to go in the final period the steelers took off their net minder and every time the devils got possession, they had a go. there was a bit of icing as you'd expect.

Think that notorious team meeting after the Glasgow defeat in March was the ticket. From that point on, they won 11 of their last 12 games (scoring 51 goals and conceding just 16).

If they'd twigged earlier in the season, the league would have been a much tighter contest - although if they can keep the core of this team together, next year looks promising.

On another note, the PO final weekend itself is such a good concept. Fans of all teams packing out the arena (I think it sells out in minutes), with no trouble. It could be even bigger if the EIHL wasn't so governed by self-interest; I'd love to see what a Barry Hearn-type figure could do for British ice hockey.
