  • Will Vincent now sell up?

Now we are in the Championship we are worth a lot more dosh, and it seems the Sala court saga is coming to a close.
    Maybe the time is right.

Don’t think he’s ever going to get the £100 million he’s blown back, unless we have found ourselves a genius of a manager right now I can’t see him ever managing to get this club back to the PL. he’s no spring chicken either. looking at the state of Leicester finances he might aswell just jump ship now whilst things are looking up. It might not last…..

      Doubt it.

He will be thinking "this time next year we could be promoted again"

Plus I think there's likely some appeal to the sala decision.

My gut feeling is that VT has no intention of selling up unless he gets a silly offer or non-football matters take over (ill health, for example). If he is still bank rolling the club to the tune of £1 million plus each month, I suspect he will want to see what BBM can do next season, at the very least. To be honest, in the same position, I think I would do the same.

          No.

Don't think there is anyone out there ready or able to make a decent offer.

Potential investors couldn't afford us last summer so I cant see anyone coming up with the cash now.

Whoever buys us needs to make an offer attractive enough for Tan to sell; and have the ability to fund the ongoing running costs. Even if you agree the shares are worth a pound, it's hardly an attractive proposition because the debt owed to tan is what -£100m? And tan would want that repaid (or the receivable bought) as part of any transaction, I'm sure.

Good point. Surely by now it is dawning on billionaires that football is a place where it is highly unlikely you will make money. The glazers at Man United are the only ones I can think of (although PMG might be another).

Wrexham has stitched up the Disney+ route (and good luck to them) and apart from producing tens of academy players each year which sell for £millions I can't think of another way to make money.

The Premier League is a financial red herring as any money made goes straight out the door on player salaries, transfer fees and agents.

Tan's options are to either sell the club for a song or run it within PSR and produce more gems from the academy to help balance the books and target cup runs play offs etc.

I said it when it happened but Abramovich skewed EPL funding so badly, it ruined everything. Back then, man utd had salary caps of about £20k per week and while footballers were vastly well paid, it wasn't the absurdity er now have. Then along came Abramovich with effectively limitless funds and skewed the market completely. You could gamble to invest and try to take him on, but he could afford to lose. The result was a huge inflation in footballs cost base that could never been funded through traditional income streams. I mean: our wage bill is typically more than our turnover. Ignore other costs- just the wage bill. And that's how it works now. If you want to compete for decent players you need to pay wages that are simply excessive on any sensible measure.

Football clubs are small businesses (even the big ones) and in aggregate, football is a massively loss making industry. And it's because the main expense - player wages- is completely excessive.

Does anyone know how much money he is putting in to Kortrijk?
Presumably it's nothing like what City is costing him.

There’s also c: £35m owed to Dalman & others, so it’s not just Tan selling, there’s a huge amount of prohibitive debt to be covered.
