      Re: Retained List.

      Departing with our best wishes:

Josh Beecher, Jacob Hobson, Sam Jones, Jack Kingdon, Leeyon Phelan, Michael Reindorf, Oliver Reynolds, Will Spiers, Oliver Walsh, Harry Watts, Morgan Wigley, Ryan Wintle.

I don't watch the u21s or u18s live - but from the highlights clips, match reports and comments from posters who do watch them regularly, I am a bit surprised to see Kingdon and Spiers leave.

What happened with Morgan Wigley that he featured so little - injury?

I'm not disputing any of that. Rjk said we definitely have midfielders who have better engines than Wintle. My question is...who?

And therein lies the problem that faces BBM.Plenty of deadwood on that retained list by Championship standards.

Good luck to all those who've been released. Always a tough time of year for many members of our and other clubs' academies.

The club seems more on the ball and better at communicating things recently than in previous seasons, like season tickets being available earlier, the announcement of the new shirt supplier and now the retained list.

They have to be the first 3 to be offloaded, even if for a nominal fee.

Daland has just been relegated to the German 3rd division and rarely got on the pitch in the closing months of the season. Somebodies really got to want him for minimise the loss.

                  Re: Retained List.

Etete, Simic and Daland are not going to work and are emblematic of a poor recruitment philosophy from years past. Simic at least seemed good on paper and a potential prospect. Put them on the market.

Robinson can do a good job for a League One team as a back-up striker. Might be an argument Tanner has hit his peak at League One play and could be cashed in on too.

Surprised to see Spiers released, Kingdon not so much. Wigley and Beecher have been unlucky with injuries while Harry Watts seemed to be making progress as the season went on.

Will Spiers being picked up by Southampton apparently.

Surprised by a couple on the u21 list.

Free Transfer definitely in Etetes case and we may have 2 free the other 2 to get them off the wage bill.

That's a bit of an unfair comparison. Wintle a regular 90+ minutes player, against a player who more often gets introduced later in the game as a substitute.

No surprises there. The surprise is probably more the number they have kept particularly those who clearly were on longer contracts than would be usual at this level; Keita, Kaba, Apter, O'Brien, Allmark etc.

Spiers is possibly the most eyebrow raising, but Kpakio and Noah Williams are younger and have a higher ceiling and for some reason Charlie O'Brien was signed on a long contract. It wasn't a surprise, though, as it has already been reported that he has signed for Merthyr for next season. A great striker of the ball, but needs to improve other parts of his game.

Wigley and Beecher are super talented, but just haven't kicked on. By my count if you include Lawlor, Mafico, Nyakuwha and Kpakio we will have 27 under 21 pros next season, including 4 keepers. It is too many. You can't keep them all.
