What a great idea by Bohemians. There's sure to be lots of competition for places.

Perhaps it could catch on. I'd imagine there are many Bluebirds fans who play or have played at a decent level who could form a team to participate in a local Severnside mini-league against the likes of Swansea, Newport, Bristol City & Rovers ... obviously donning their club's kit from previous seasons.

Back in the 80s I played a few games for Cardiff City Supporters Club. From memory the team played in the lower reaches of the Cardiff & District league.

Of course it was the Sunday League, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to follow the City on Saturdays ... the only option back in the 80s along with some midweek fixtures.

Some training kit was donated. I loved my Umbro top with John Buchanan stitched on the back!

If he Whad John Buchanan on the back of his shirt then i very much doubt it was the MW developments league, that was 90s onwards i think Mozz.

Don't think anyone sponsored parks football leagues back in the 80s.

Don't remember players having names on their match-day shirts in the 80s ... just the training tops so that they could be identified after washing.

Don't remember players having names on their match-day shirts in the 80s ... just the training tops so that they could be identified after washing.

They would also have a squad number, i should know, i used to be on kit duty with Harry Parsons.

I playes for a side called Afc Monde, atleast that's what i think they were called.

When the Sunday League started in the ‘70s, there was Undeb ( the insurance company)United, Les Croupiers FC, Moorwell Motors FC, Savastanos (restaurant) FC, Atkins ( the building company) Athletic. A few more that I can’t remember but there were a good few sponsored sides on a Sunday. The Saturday sides in the District & Combination were old established sides Bridgend St, Grange Quins, Fairoak, Cardiff Draconians etc etc, clubs formed way before sponsorship was even thought of but the new Sunday League was well in tune with sponsorship.
