The Spanish naming system is to use two surnames - father's surname followed by mother's surname, so they have probably assumed that Benjamin was his father's surname and Toshack his mother's.
For example Michael Portillo's formal Spanish name is Miguel Portillo Blyth. His mother was Cora Blyth.
